This comprehensive 20-25 hour course provides in-depth instruction on advanced first aid concepts, equivalent to the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) standards. With a specific focus on protest medicine, this class will equip you with critical skills for a variety of emergency situations encountered in activist and protest environments. Taught by accredited and experienced instructors with combined decades of expertise in EMS, clinical medicine, military, and protest medical care, this course is designed to empower you to provide effective care when it matters most.
Course Details:
- Duration: 20-25 hours.
- Location: The Lockwood Foundation, Golden
- Dates & Times: Saturdays, May 9, 16, 23, 30. Varying times between 12pm and 7pm (5 hour blocks for each class)
- Other coursework: a textbook, and a limited number of pre-class videos will be shared with participants to provide a better foundation for each day's instruction
- Cost: $100 per student. This fee covers a complete medical kit for each student and all class teaching supplies. * if this fee presents a critical barrier to your ability to participate, please email leadership@pulsecolorado.org at the same time as submitting this form to discuss how you can still access this meaningful training * Other Supplies: Students are required to purchase their own stethoscope and blood pressure cuff.
Expectations:
This class is organized by and facilitated by a 100% volunteer organization. Participation in this class indicates your interest in becoming part of the PULSE volunteer organization and volunteering at future events in Denver and Colorado. Specifically, by registering for this course, you are agreeing to:
- volunteer as a street medic with PULSE at at least 2 events in the next calendar year
- support the PULSE mission and dedication to mutual aid, direct action, and principled care
- commit to providing excellent care in alignment with the safe and legal scope taught during the training
There will be no drop-ins for this class. Pre-registration is required, and you will receive confirmation from the PULSE team regarding your registration status before class begins.
